OUR SAFETY GUARANTEE
At Haggarty Roofing, we are committed to the highest safety standards, ensuring every project meets industry regulations and provides a secure environment for our workers and clients.

High Risk Construction Work
Roofing activities are considered as high-risk construction work. At Haggarty Roofing our workers tend to be working on-site's over two-meters high and near energised electrical installations. Before commencing such high-risk work, we are required to complete a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS). This document outlines the hazards, associated risks, and measured to control these risks and that our workers are aware of the practical and effective safety solutions for each project.

Regulatory Framework

Ensuring safety in industrial and commercial roofing is paramount due to the inherent risks associated with working at heights and on various roof structures. In Australia, stringent regulations and standards have been established to protect workers and ensure safe roofing practices.
Australia's roof safety regulations are governed by the Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws, enforced at both federal and state levels. Key regulatory bodies include:
- Safe Work Australia: Develops national policies and guidance for workplace safety, including working at heights.
- State and Territory Work Health and Safety Authorities: Enforce compliance with WHS laws within their respective jurisdictions.
Several standards underpin roof safety practices, such as:
- AS/NZS 1891.4:2009: Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices- selection, use, and maintenance.
- AS/NZS 5532:2013: Manufacturing requirements for single-point anchor devices used for harness-based work at height.
- AS/NZS 4488.1:1997: Industrial rope access systems--specifications.
- AS 1562.1: Design and Installation of Sheet Roof and Wall Cladding.
- National Construction Code (NCC): Includes the Building Code of Australia (BCA) which sets the minimum requirements for safety, health, amenity, and sustainability in building design and construction.
These standards provide comprehensive guidelines to ensure safe roofing practices across various projects and scenarios--something we at Haggarty Roofing take very seriously.

STATE SPECIFIC REGULATIONS
While national standards provide a framework, individual states have additional requirements. For instance, in Queensland, fall prevention measures are mandatory for work at heights two meters or more. The regulations emphasise robust fall prevention controls, such as edge protection, and mandate the use of fall-arrest systems when other measures are impractical.
